Description
The pastures, which cover about half the earth's surface, are home to a unique biodiversity. Above all, the livelihoods of pastoral communities depend on them. Pastoralists raise livestock, contribute to food security and guard a diverse cultural heritage and local and indigenous knowledge, preserving ecosystems worldwide.
The International Year of Pastures and Shepherds aims to raise awareness and promote the importance of healthy pastures and sustainable pastoralism.
