ADIGE Provincial Nature Reserve - permitted activities and prohibitions

Permitted activities

• Access to cultivated land, even with motor vehicles, by the owner, tenant or possessor, except for specific prescriptions for the protection of rare breeding species.
• Forestry on the basis of the Forest Management Plan drawn up according to the criteria of naturalistic silviculture, or a Forest Management Plan prepared by the Parks and Nature Conservation Service.
• Circulation of motor vehicles for forest use activities, except for specific prescriptions for the protection of rare species in reproduction.
• Construction of infrastructure of public interest for which no alternative location exists, subject to the binding opinion of the Parks and Nature Conservation Service.
• Activities necessary for the cultural and scientific use of the biotope, its protection, conservation, renaturalisation, bio-ecological and environmental improvement, on the basis of a specific plan and subject to authorisation by the Parks and Nature Conservation Service.
• Mowing the meadows, according to the techniques and timetable provided by the Parks and Nature Conservation Service.
• Continuation of the current water extraction for irrigation purposes through the existing water intake with regular concession in the Ischia di Isera area.
• Transit of flocks during transhumance and grazing of the same during the period from November to February.
• Hydraulic works and maintenance of the river bed (including removal of material and cutting back of vegetation) deemed necessary by the Hydraulic Works Service to guarantee the river's flood outflow, with design aimed at the safety of the inhabited areas and the maximum compatible degree of naturalness.
• Fishing activities along the banks of the Adige river.

Limits and prohibitions

• Modifying or altering in any way the elements that make up the biotope, with the exception of interventions necessary to guarantee the flow of the river floods.
• Deposit waste or materials of any kind and carry out excavations, changes of cultivation, land reclamation or land draining, except for interventions necessary to guarantee the flow of the river floods.
• Cultivating quarries and peat bogs (with legal revocation of existing permits).
• Activities likely to trigger or cause disturbance or modification of existing ecological values.
• Introducing, removing or damaging flora and fungi of any species, except for scientific and biotope conservation reasons and with prior authorisation.
• Killing, injuring, capturing, disturbing, releasing or taking any animal species, as well as letting dogs or other domestic animals roam, except for the reasons and with the required authorisation.
• Directly or indirectly injecting waste water or water that may otherwise alter the characteristics of the biotope.
• Erecting constructions or artefacts of any type or material, even if temporary.
• Drain water resources, except as specified for the Ischia di Isera area.
• Use pesticides and herbicides of any class of toxicity, except for interventions aimed at protecting public health.
• Carry out clearing for agricultural purposes of forest, grassland and uncultivated areas.
• Crossing the area by overhead power lines and lines for telephone service and any other overhead or underground conduct.
• Fly over the biotope at low altitude with planes or helicopters.
• Making noises, sounds and disturbing lights
• Circulate with vehicles of any kind.
• Camping, lighting fires, letting dogs or other domestic animals roam.
• Entering the protected area outside the marked paths, except for the owner, usufructuary, tenant or possessor in another capacity and other persons carrying out scientific, surveillance and management activities.
• Carrying out any type of fencing except those that conform to the type indicated in the Management Plan or that have been authorised in advance.
• Carrying out recreational, sporting and/or leisure activities, unless expressly exempted.
• Remove or damage the biotope identification and boundary signs.
