Description
"Europe is not perfect, has not been perfect, will never be perfect, but it is the best idea we have had so far". A statement that does not come from an 'insider', but from Jürgen Klopp, German coach of the Liverpool football team.
It is with this desire to improve and collaborate more that the Servizio Europa of the Autonomous Province of Trento is launching the second edition of "Siamo Europa", a festival on European policies scheduled from 25 to 27 May in Piazza Santa Maria Maggiore in Trento.
Every year Europe celebrates its holiday on 9 May, remembering when Robert Schuman laid the foundations for the community integration project in 1950. From a 'commanded feast' it was decided in Trentino, a land sensitive for various reasons to Europe, to propose a three-day square event to amplify the message and bring it more directly to citizens.
Trying to bring together 'high' issues with what Europe does concretely for Europeans.
The festival is coordinated by the European information centres Europe Direct Trentino and Centro di Documentazione Europea of Trento, with the collaboration of the Fondazione Trentina Alcide Degasperi and Villa Vigoni, a place of confrontation and dialogue between the Italian and German governments.
"We are Europe", in the sense of the institutional cooperation that one would like to see more at Union level, however, involves many other realities that in the local sphere deal with Europe.
Also in the 2018 edition seminars, round tables, debates, the presentation of projects financed by Europe in Trentino, performances and other activities are scheduled.
Closing the festival will be the first meeting of a cross-border pilot project of the European Commission to bring citizens closer to the European elections in May 2019.
"We are Europe" will be from 25 to 27 May 2018 in Piazza Santa Maria Maggiore.
Admission to all events is free while places last

18.00 Italians, Europeans?
We are often called the 'sick people of Europe', those who do not do their homework, those who are on the brink of the abyss. At the same time, on the other side of the Brenner Pass they envy us for our lifestyle and visit us often. We do not like the technocrats in Brussels, but we are among the most pro-European on the continent and send many of our representatives to EU institutions. How European are Italians and how Italian are Europeans? An interesting journey into our identity with Beppe Severgnini, following the motto 'if we are better, we can teach. If we are less good, we must learn'

21.00: Tutta colpa della Brexit |
Tutta colpa della Brexit is the story of Francesco De Carlo, the first Italian stand-up comedian to perform in English in front of international audiences. After a world tour that took him to Edinburgh, Berlin, Moscow, Johannesburg, Oslo, Helsinki, Canada, Switzerland, Slovenia, South Korea, Estonia and Latvia, the Roman comedian decided to move to London, just when the United Kingdom decided to leave the European Union. A monologue about travelling written on the road, where there will be no lack of considerations about cultural differences and personal experiences in the various countries, from alcohol to love, from drugs to religion. In times when populism and xenophobia are rampant everywhere, Francesco dresses the shoes of the foreigner and with his surreal comedy investigates human beings and the things of this world.

17.00 Italy, Germany, Europe |
After the German elections last September and after the difficult negotiations for the formation of the fourth Merkel government, Germany too has discovered political instability. What will be the consequences for Europe? Will Germany be the ally that French President Emmanuel Macron is looking for to reform the European Union? What role will Italy play?
The panel aims to answer these very pressing questions.
