On the 70th anniversary of the death of Alcide De Gasperi, one of the founding fathers of the European Union, EUROPE DIRECT Trentino, the information office of the European Commission, located in the Autonomous Province of Trento, in collaboration with the Istituto Comprensivo di Lavis and with the support of the Municipality of Lavis are pleased to present the theatrical reading "The Thread of Choice".
An emotional journey through monologues that tell the souls of those who, with vision and courage, built the common future of the European peoples. The voices of Alessandra Evangelisti and Giulio Federico Janni will bring to life emblematic figures such as Robert Schuman, Konrad Adenauer, Simone Veil, Louise Weiss and Alcide De Gasperi, restoring the intensity of their thoughts and dreams through intimate and passionate readings.
In the theatrical reading, we will have the opportunity to get in touch with the souls of five great founding fathers and mothers of the European Union, through their most intimate reflections. Alcide De Gasperi will tell us about his imprisonment and unshakeable hope in the future, a future that prevails even in the darkest moments. Simone Veil Jacob will share her dream of peace among the peoples of Europe, a peace that, for her, is not just an aspiration, but a necessity to build a united Europe. Konrad Adenauer will guide us through the theme of rebirth, revealing the strength of those who believe in second chances, in redemption after the scars of war. Louise Weiss, a strong and courageous woman, will lead us into the heart of her battles for emancipation and recognition of the role of women in the construction of Europe. Finally, Robert Schuman will talk to us about the importance of friendship between peoples, a fundamental value for the creation of a Europe of solidarity and peace. Every thought, every word of these protagonists will help us to better understand the roots and challenges that gave birth to the European Union.
Everything will be enriched by the musical contribution of the Choir and Orchestra of the Istituto Comprensivo di Lavis with 67 girls and boys with their teachers and the Trentino singer-songwriter Candirù, who will accompany the narration with evocative musical notes.
The performance with free admission will be held on 10 December 2024 at 8 p.m. at theAuditorium of Lavis.
