Description
Maria Pia Veladiano, in her latest novel 'Adesso che sei qui' (Now that you are here), tells the story of Mrs. Camilla who falls ill with Alzheimer's disease and her niece Andreina who follows her and assists her with the support of operators of the Territorial Services in a small town 'between Lake Garda and the Adige River': It is a true and touching story that presents the work of the operators of the 'Clinical Network for Cognitive Disorders and Dementia' with simplicity and a delicate freshness, giving valuable care indications and overcoming the stigma that often still characterises the experiences of patients suffering from cognitive impairment and their families. Since the story told proves to be a useful training and awareness-raising tool for operators and those interested in the problem, we have organised a meeting with the author, the person who lived through the experience recounted in the novel, and a Home Service Nurse who participated 'in the field' in the story: the aim is to open a dialogue between Users, Operators and people interested in the problem in order to share and best encourage a more informed and aware approach to a condition that is increasingly present in our society.
