Description
The conference was an opportunity to present the main results of the Trentino Ecological Network: a focal point for Pan-alpine ecological network (TEN) project, which was co-funded by the European Community under the LIFE programme, including
- the new management strategy for the Natura 2000 Network, based on the creation of a "multi-purpose" ecological network at provincial level, through the establishment of the "Networks of Reserves" - provided for by Provincial Law 11/2007, with the aim of enhancing the provincial resources in terms of biodiversity through the decentralised management of the Natura 2000 Network Areas, involving local communities
- the concrete programme for the active management of the network in the medium to long term.
In the morning, technical speeches illustrated the main results and achievements of the project from a naturalistic, socio-economic and cultural point of view.
In the afternoon, five discussion panels, open to both technicians and the general public, dealt with important topics for which in-depth initiatives and/or dedicated projects will be launched in the near future:
- the crayfish
- allochthonous plant species
- grassland management between abandonment and intensification
- the ecological connectivity of the Adige Valley
- sustainable mobility in protected areas.
The conference was attended by over 180 people (administrators, technicians, stakeholders, etc.).
