General information
The MERIDIAN project promotes the digitisation of the mobility system focusing mainly on the CEF core network corridors Scandinavian-Mediterranean and North Sea-Baltic. This will be achieved by implementing digital systems and services along Europe's busiest freight corridors. The activities carried out will support the common objectives to increase traffic safety, reduce congestion and environmental pollution and support the COP26 objectives along these important freight corridors in Europe.
The main activities envisaged in the project are:
- Platform for the integrated monitoring of mobility in Trentino along the Brenner axis, which consists in the development of an operational structure capable of collecting, processing and managing mobility data to be fed into a database of information for the optimal management of mobility along the Brenner axis;
- Multimedia service for detecting critical traffic situations on the state and provincial roads of the Autonomous Province of Trento and notifying users called "Viaggiare in Trentino", which collects, processes and disseminates information on all situations that could lead to congestion and slowdowns on the Province's road network
Goals
The project aims to enhance the ecological transition and decarbonisation of transport, safety and digitisation by strengthening the already existing established links of the European ITS (CEF Intelligent Transport System Corridors) and building new partnerships and relationships.
