General information
The project envisages verifying and creating the conditions for the development of value chains in the officinal and aromatic herbs sector that would allow an economic development of rural Alpine areas. By creating job opportunities, depopulation is avoided, the territory and environment are protected and synergies are created with the manufacturing sector for product processing and marketing. The Autonomous Province of Trento within the project will have to deal mainly with training for skills development.
The main actions are:
- multilevel approach for the in-depth analysis of value chain development possibilities for medicinal and aromatic herbs through the involvement of all stakeholders (agricultural sector and manufacturing sector for processing)
- analysis of the supply chain needed for product development and training needs for farmers and producers for knowledge development
- implementation of pilot actions to test the feasibility of the value chain and develop partnerships
Goals
The project intends to promote the circular economy approach in the rural Alpine region to foster more sustainable growth through the creation of value chains related to the medicinal and aromatic plant sector and to support the creation of a green infrastructure network.
