General information

The project responds to the challenges posed by work contexts characterised, on the one hand, by profound changes related to the digitalisation of work and the demand for new skills and, on the other hand, by the extension of working life and the increasing share of older workers in the world of work. The urgency of supporting lifelong learning and training of mature workers is now widely recognised, as is the focus on the mechanisms and motivations for learning and working that change with age.
These dynamics also heavily affect processes of economic development or territorial recession and relations between public administration and citizens.

In order to counteract the consequences of this phenomenon, the role of trainers and of all those who intervene to support competence building and retraining of older workers in working and non-working contexts is very important.
The role of trainers is crucial in supporting motivation and learning abilities, mitigating the decline in employability and improving the contribution older workers can make in work organisations and to society at large.

Goals

The aim of the project is thus to respond to the challenges presented by the new context of the world of work, enhancing the role of lifelong learning, the latter to be addressed in particular to workers aged 50 and over.

The results the project aims to achieve are:

  • Expansion of knowledge and development of a new conceptual and methodological framework for the training of senior workers and, more generally, throughout life, adapting the andragogical model to technological changes, to the relevance of PS-TRE-oriented training, to the role of work contexts, the competences (formal, non-formal and informal) of workers and senior workers and their motivations and learning modes.
  • Activation of a "Permanent Workshop on Active Ageing" mainly involving strategic aspects. The laboratory will be activated by the Autonomous Province of Trento and open to the participation of all European, national and local stakeholders interested in active ageing and training actions addressed to it.
  • Construction of a digital platform for the training of trainers. The aim of the digital platform is on the one hand to define the contents of models, methodologies, tools and practices for the training of senior workers and on the other hand to realise training courses for senior workers
  • Sharing of guidelines for training and further training of trainers of senior workers on the basis of a new methodological conceptual framework
  • Definition of professional profiles of trainers and other figures involved in the training of senior workers to be tested and validated
  • Realisation of specific training paths for trainers of senior workers
