Strengthening intermediate healthcare and its facilities (Community Hospitals)

The Community Hospital is a healthcare facility for patients who, following a mild acute episode or a relapse of a chronic condition, require low-intensity clinical care that could potentially be provided at home, but who require continuous nursing care and medical supervision, including at night, which cannot be provided at home or where the home is unsuitable (due to structural or family-related reasons).

These are short-stay healthcare facilities equipped with 15–20-bed units, known as ‘intermediate care’ units, which serve as an intermediate step between home care and hospital admission.

To strengthen intermediate healthcare and its facilities, with the aim offacilitating safe discharge to support patients’ functional recovery and restoration of independence.

Provincialtarget: at least3 community hospitals, refurbished, interconnected and equipped with state-of-the-art technology

The Autonomous Province of Trento, in its capacity as the implementing body, utilisesthe Integrated University Health Authority of Trentino (Asuit) as its delegated implementing body.

The implementation of the PNRR in Trentino fits coherently within the provincial policy framework for sustainable development, in line with the policies set out in the Provincial Economic and Financial Document and the related Update.

PNRR funding: €8,179,982.59

The project has met and exceeded the target of 3 community hospitals, with certification achieved for 4 facilities.

The community hospitals in Ala, Mezzolombardo, Tione di Trento and Pergine Valsugana have been certified .
