Strengthening intermediate healthcare and its facilities (Community Hospitals)

The Community Hospital is a healthcare facility for patients who, following a mild acute episode or a relapse of a chronic condition, require low-intensity clinical care that could potentially be provided at home, but who require continuous nursing care and medical supervision, including at night, which cannot be provided at home or where the home is unsuitable (due to structural or family-related reasons).

These are short-stay healthcare facilities equipped with 15–20-bed units, known as ‘intermediate care’ units, which serve as an intermediate step between home care and hospital admission.

Community Hospitals are planned for Mezzolombardo, Ala, Pergine Valsugana and Tione.

To strengthen intermediate healthcare and its facilities, with the aim offacilitating safe discharges to support patients’ functional recovery and restoration of independence.

Provincialtarget: at least3 community hospitals, refurbished, interconnected and equipped with state-of-the-art technology

The Autonomous Province of Trento, in its capacity as the implementing body, utilisesthe Trentino Integrated University Health Authority (Asuit) as its delegated implementing body.

The implementation of the PNRR in Trentino forms an integral part of the provincial policy framework for sustainable development, in line with the policies set out in the Provincial Economic and Financial Document and the related Update Note.

PaT funding: €1,942,000.00

The target has been met for the facilities in Ala, Mezzolombardo and Tione di Trento, for which the administrative certification process has been completed.

Work at the Pergine Valsugana Community Hospital will be completed shortly.
