General information
Pre-school education, in general, has received increased attention in recent years, as the idea that the foundation of lifelong culture and citizenship lies in the early years is increasingly accepted. Recent studies draw attention to the persistence of gender stereotypes and prejudices in the 0-6 age group and several research studies have shown the negative consequences this can have on self-esteem and confidence.
The general objective of the project action is to promote equal opportunities and the overcoming of gender stereotypes.
Specific objectives:
- To develop and disseminate a pedagogical model and method for gender education in pre-school education
- Develop specific training for teachers and operators to equip them with all the skills and capacities needed to provide high quality services and respond to the increasingly diversified needs in relation to diversity and inclusion education with a gender perspective
Activities
- exchange of good practices on gender-sensitive diversity education in early childhood
- development, testing and implementation of a training course for educators regarding diversity inclusion, equal opportunities and gender sensitivity
- promoting concrete strategies and tools addressed to policy makers to promote equal opportunities and gender sensitivity in pre-school education and in society as a whole
Goals
The essential aim is to develop and disseminate a gender-equal approach for pre-school education, based on an age-appropriate pedagogical framework to promote gender equality from an early age. The project also includes the development of appropriate teaching models and tools for pre-school children.
