AgriDataValue

Smart Farm and Agri-environmental Big Data Space - Realising an Agri-environmental Big Data Space promoting smart farming practices, improving environmental sustainability and economic competitiveness of the agricultural sector.

General information

The AgriDataValue project aims to establish itself as a 'Game Changer' in the digital transformation and agri-environmental monitoring of Smart Farming.

AgriDataValue sets 5 "Smart" objectives:

  1. Design and develop a flexible, open, federated and fully distributed ADS(Agri Data Space) as a "platform of platforms"; collect, process, enhance and combine data, including from sensors, that is diverse, heterogeneous and multi-source;
  2. Design, develop, implement innovative tools such asedge cloud and artificial intelligence to collect, combine, map and analyse in situ, regional and global agro-environmental data in real time;
  3. Enable thefarmer to gain control in the agri-environmental data value chain by identifying and demonstrating a range of new business models based on data/artificial intelligence;
  4. Demonstrate the value - brought about by the increased availability and combination of agri-environmental data - in informed decision-making with respect to agriculture and climate change;
  5. Maximise impacts by involving a wide range of actors, from farming communities to policy and decision makers and the general public.

During the life of the project, 23 pilot projects will be conducted in 9 EU countries, representing over 181,000 hectares of cultivated land and over 2,000 livestock. The consortium consists of 30 partners from Greece, Spain, France, the United Kingdom, Luxembourg, Romania, Slovenia, Italy, Germany, Belgium, Poland, the Netherlands, Latvia and Lithuania.

Goals

One of the main objectives of AgriDataValue is to strengthen the potential of smart agriculture and improve the environmental and economic performance of the agricultural sector through the development of a fully distributed, open source and multi-technology Agri Data Space. In addition, AgriDataValue aims to strengthen climate monitoring capabilities, in particular of soil and crop conditions, in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The project, in a transversal manner, takes into account the parameters set by the new Common Agricultural Policy (2023-2027) and aims to integrate them into the platform in order to facilitate their fulfilment by the farmers involved and to monitor and evaluate their progress.
