General information

AIDESS, an acronym for "AI based Decision Support System for logistics", is a software project developed by HPA s.r.l. with the support of the Autonomous Province of Trento. It was created with the aim of optimising logistics processes in complex scenarios such as freight transport, urban waste collection and the management of technical teams in the territory.

The system integrates evolutionary optimisation algorithms, predictive models based on machine learning and a scalable software architecture to support fast and efficient decisions, even in the presence of complex and changing operational constraints.

The project introduced innovative solutions, including a multi-objective engine for planning, a dedicated language for defining constraints, and predictive models capable of accurately estimating operating times and capacities.

AIDESS is accessible via an intuitive web interface and can be easily integrated into business management systems via modern and secure APIs. The platform is suitable for multiple application areas, from environmental and healthcare logistics to urban mobility and predictive maintenance.

AIDESS has produced concrete benefits. On an industrial level, it has enabled HPA to move from a contract-based development to a multi-sector and scalable product offering (Hive Truck, Hive Waste, Hive Workforce), strengthening its market positioning and boosting employment.

On the environmental level, it contributed to the reduction of emissions and urban traffic through more efficient planning.
On a social level, it has improved the distribution of labour and the quality of services.
The system has already been validated on real data and used in production, paving the way for new collaborations and developments.

AIDESS today represents a concrete example of innovation in Trentino, capable of generating value for the territory and paving the way for new collaborations in the world of sustainable and intelligent logistics.
