The wave of bad weather that has been affecting the Trentino region since yesterday continues into the evening. So far, at 12 noon, an average of 30 - 70 mm has fallen with maximums locally exceeding 100 mm and the absolute maximum measured at Pian delle Fugazze equal to 162 mm. The temperatures at altitude have decreased and with them the snow quota, which is currently at about 1800 - 2000 m. In the next few hours the intense south-easterly flows are expected to gradually diminish but, with the entry of colder air at altitude, instability will tend to increase. Until the evening, rainfall is expected to be at times intense and of thunderstorm character, more persistent on the south-eastern sectors where the heaviest rainfall has already been recorded and where by late evening a further 30 - 50 mm of rain could fall, while smaller quantities are expected on the rest of the territory. Strong wind gusts, graupel, gragnola or small hail may occur in the vicinity of showers or thunderstorms. Winds were at times strong at medium-high altitudes and gusts of over 80 - 100 km/h were measured locally, while in the valleys the gusts were less intense. With the exception of Tesero, where a gust of 85 km/h was measured, gusts at low altitudes have been less intense so far. However, it cannot be ruled out that strong gusts may occur in the next few hours, especially in the next two hours and, in the vicinity of possible thunderstorms, into the evening. The level of watercourses is rising as predicted, as far as those in the south-eastern area are concerned. Based on the current situation, high criticality levels should not be reached.
