Around 400 experts and decision-makers from public institutions, companies and civil society from Vorarlberg (Austria) and neighbouring regions met in Bregenz in recent days to discuss issues, tools and ideas on the path to energy autonomy.
The meeting, as part of the EUSALP conference, also addressed the topic of long-term supply security and convenience, which received particular attention due to the recent blackout in Spain. The central idea of the Energy Autonomy Symposium, which this year was complemented by the EUSALP Forum, is to sharpen the tools on the path to energy autonomy, exchange ideas and seize new impulses.
The central themes of the conferences and workshops focused on the principles of communicating, transforming, educating and how to store and distribute electricity in the Alpine region; the generation and use of renewable electricity on a regional level; and how to plan energy in public spaces. Other topics covered: thinking about the building of the future and developing buildings and neighbourhoods in a sustainable way.
