Last weekend in St. Gallen, Switzerland, Trentino athletes took third place in the Arge Alp Sport 2025 athletics competition. An important result, which rewards the work of the regional representative team and the constant commitment of the athletes and their technicians.
Around 290 young sportsmen and sportswomen from the territories that make up the Working Community of the Alpine regions participated in the event, accompanied by their coaches. After the opening ceremony on Saturday, 20 September, the programme offered a rich calendar of men's and women's competitions: high jump, long jump and pole vault, discus, weight, hammer and javelin throws, as well as running events over various distances and relay races. The two-day event ended yesterday, Sunday 21 September, with the official prize-giving ceremony.
The general classification saw South Tyrol prevail, followed by Bavaria. Trentino, with 223 points, preceded the hosts St. Gallen and Ticino, in fourth and fifth place respectively.
The sporting balance for the Trentino team was particularly positive: eight individual victories were obtained, with outstanding performances in the speed, jumps, throws and 400 metres, flanked by numerous placings that allowed them to consolidate their overall score.
The next stages of the Arge Alp competitions will see the teams compete in orienteering (11-12 October in Collepietra, South Tyrol) and sport climbing (17-18 October in Salzburg).
