Safety and restoration operations continue along the SP208 Avio-San Valentino road, between kilometres 10 and 7, which is currently closed to traffic due to landslides that occurred this morning. A landslide broke loose around 5.30 a.m., affecting three consecutive hairpin bends and dragging debris, boulders and trees with it. The event was triggered by the collapse of a block of rock from the wall above the road, which damaged a reinforced concrete pipeline owned by Hydro Dolomiti Energia (Hde), causing a considerable amount of water to flow down the slope and triggering the landslides. The infrastructure conveys water from the Pra da Stua basin to a large reservoir located above the village of Avio. On site, the companies in charge of the work of unblocking the rock face, the ramp and restoring the roadway are operational. The operations involve the Geological Service of the Autonomous Province of Trento, the Road Management Service, Hde and the Municipality of Avio. The objective is to allow the reopening, at least partial, of the SP208 road in the next few days, compatibly with the progress of the safety works.
