100 years 100 chimes, the first century of life of the War Memorial Bell

The 100th anniversary of the Bell of the Fallen is not only a milestone, but above all the starting point of a new journey. In a world marred by international conflicts and crises, increasingly close to territories that believed themselves immune to such risks after the Second World War, Maria Dolens represents a certain point of reference.
With its hundred tolls every day, it reaffirms that 'nothing is lost with Peace, all may be lost with war', as the famous warning of Pius XII engraved on its mantle states. This is why the Bell is not only memory, but concrete action, above all through dialogue and mediation.
For this reason too, on Saturday 4 October, on the occasion of the centenary of the first tolling of what is now recognised all over the world as the Peace Bell, the Foundation is organising a day of celebrations in collaboration with the Municipality of Rovereto, starting at 10 a.m., when a meeting open to the citizens will be held in the Auditorium Alberto Robol (admission is free while places last), introduced by the Regent Marco Marsilli, the Provincial Councillor Francesca Gerosa, the Mayor of Rovereto City of Peace Giulia Robol and the President of the Provincial Council Claudio Soini. Cardinal Matteo Maria Zuppi and the Honourable Mario Raffaelli are expected to attend, with Gianni Bonvicini moderating. It will be an opportunity to review the most serious crises upsetting the world and discuss the methods to be used to make dialogue prevail over weapons.

Landslide along the SP208, safety works continue

Safety and restoration operations continue along the SP208 Avio-San Valentino road, between kilometres 10 and 7, which is currently closed to traffic due to landslides that occurred this morning. A landslide broke loose around 5.30 a.m., affecting three consecutive hairpin bends and dragging debris, boulders and trees with it. The event was triggered by the collapse of a block of rock from the wall above the road, which damaged a reinforced concrete pipeline owned by Hydro Dolomiti Energia (Hde), causing a considerable amount of water to flow down the slope and triggering the landslides. The infrastructure conveys water from the Pra da Stua basin to a large reservoir located above the village of Avio. On site, the companies in charge of the work of unblocking the rock face, the ramp and restoring the roadway are operational. The operations involve the Geological Service of the Autonomous Province of Trento, the Road Management Service, Hde and the Municipality of Avio. The objective is to allow the reopening, at least partial, of the SP208 road in the next few days, compatibly with the progress of the safety works.
