At the WIRED Next Fest Trentino 2025, in the setting of the Palazzo del Bene in Rovereto, the meeting 'Beijing caput mundi' took place, focusing on the transformation of the world order and the future role of Europe. On stage, Giuliano Noci, pro-rector of the Milan Polytechnic and expert in digital transformation, and Silvia Menegazzi, professor of international politics and Sino-European relations at Luiss University, drew a clear picture: China is no longer just the factory of the world, but a technological and strategic player capable of imposing global standards and rules. Europe, still slow in its digital transition and divided in its political choices, must quickly define an autonomous strategy to remain competitive. In a context of growing protectionism and diminishing US support, the risk is to slip to the margins of the competition between great powers.
