Snowfalls are in progress over a large part of the Trentino territory. The precipitation started yesterday evening on the western sectors and in the early morning hours of today also on the eastern ones. At 8 a.m. this morning, about 5 centimetres of snow could be measured in Trento and about 15 centimetres in upper Valsugana. Above 700 metres, an average of 10 to 30 centimetres of snow fell, with the highest values at the highest altitudes in the western and southern sectors.
In the next few hours, another 5 - 15 centimetres of snow are expected in the western sectors and 10 - 25 centimetres in the eastern sectors, with the highest values above approximately 700 metres. In the Adige Valley, another 5 - 10 centimetres of snow are locally possible by midday.
The phenomena are then expected to gradually fade away in the early afternoon starting in the north-western sectors with residual weak rainfall, which will however tend to persist longer in the eastern sectors with snow levels rising to around 700 - 1000 metres. From late morning onwards, winds will strengthen from the north. It is also reported that in the coming night the sky will be mostly clear, favouring a drop in temperatures and the formation of ice.
The transit of the disturbance and the lowering of the snow quota, have been constantly monitored by MeteoTrentino in order to activate the snow removal vehicles that are currently in action over a large part of the provincial territory. A number of snow guards are active to control vehicles, especially those located higher up or protecting tourist resorts.
We would like to remind you that from 15 November, the obligation to travel with snow tyres or chains on board during snowfall is in force.
We recommend moderating speed and driving with particular caution due to the slippery road surface and the presence on the roadway of snow removal vehicles and anti-icing treatments.
