"We wanted to present the fifth update of the provincial waste plan to the territory, reaching out to all the communities of Trentino because we believe it is right to make an initial participatory comparison, to provide answers to the main problems and outline future strategies," said Mario Tonina, vice-president of the Province and councillor for the environment, immediately after the introduction by the Vallagarina Community Commissioner Stefano Bisoffi, yesterday afternoon at the meeting with representatives of the Vallagarina and Altipiani Cimbri communities, thanking those who worked on updating the Plan and recalling in particular the fundamental contribution of Appa, FBK and the University of Trento.
Gabriele Rampanelli, head of Appa's Authorisation and Control Sector, and Chiara Lo Cicero, deputy director of the Waste and Polluted Sites Remediation Organisational Unit, illustrated the document in detail with the current study of waste management in the various territorial realities. For Vallagarina and Rovereto in particular, the situation is not critical, there is already an alignment with the objectives of the plan, so no major investments are expected in the coming years.
Also present at the meeting were Roberto Andreatta, general manager of the Department of Territory, Transport, Environment and Energy PAT, and Luigi Crema, director of the Sustainable Energy Centre of the Bruno Kessler Foundation, who presented some possible future scenarios, with technological solutions for new Trentino cogeneration plants or chemical synthesis of fuels for self-sufficient waste disposal. This is an important challenge for the coming years, in which the Province is committed to defining, together with the communities and citizens, where the undifferentiated waste remaining after separate waste collection can be disposed of.
