In the area downstream from the detachment of the Punta Rocca serac, on the Marmolada, search operations are underway from the ground, in close liaison with the Canazei Civil Protection Centre, with volunteer fire brigades and Psychologists for the Peoples. There are 14 men and women from Soccorso Alpino e Speleologico Trentino, Soccorso Alpino della Guardia di Finanza with two canine units, the Centro Addestramento Alpino di Moena of the Polizia di Stato, Trento's permanent fire brigade and the Carabinieri's Alpine Rescue Team. Operations began at 6.15 am and will be concluded as long as the weather conditions allow. The stability of the ice is being monitored live by experts from the Centre for Civil Protection of the University of Florence, who are collaborating with the Forecast and Planning Office of the Autonomous Province of Trento, through data collected by interferometric and Doppler radar.
