Work on the construction of the subway at State Road 240 on the Mori West bypass was handed over this morning. The scheduled completion date is 20 January 2024. The intervention envisages the restoration of access between Mori Vecchio and the countryside south of State Road SS 240. Currently, in order to reach them, it is necessary to take an alternative road, which also affects traffic on the state road. The solution shared by the provincial and municipal administrations was to build a subway under the state road along the route of the old road.
The handover was attended by the president of the Autonomous Province of Trento Maurizio Fugatti and the mayor of Mori Stefano Barozzi.
'The safety of the road system,' commented President Fugatti, 'is the main objective of this work. It is an intervention that has been awaited in Mori for many years, to the benefit of the agricultural road system, which today shows difficulties in crossing the state road. The subway envisaged in the project will in fact facilitate the transit from one side to the other and will favour the mobility of agricultural vehicles, with advantages also for cycling and pedestrians. What is being intervened on, to the benefit of safety, is in fact a very busy point".
With this intervention, which has been requested since the construction of the Mori ring road," emphasises Mayor Barozzi, "a problem is solved concerning the safety of the crossing for both pedestrians and agricultural vehicles, and the cycle path connecting Mori with Lake Garda is relieved of the burden of agricultural vehicles. This also creates a ring between the hamlet of Mori Vecchio and the cycle path'.
