With regard to the news concerning the shortage of paediatricians at the Cles and Cavalese birth centres, we feel it is our duty to make a few clarifications in order to provide clarity and not to cause concern among the population. The shortage of employed paediatricians in the territorial birth centres is nothing new, and in recent years Apss has implemented numerous initiatives to compensate for the shortage and to guarantee the full and safe operation of the birth centres. Numerous selective procedures have been carried out to recruit employees or personnel with free-lance contracts to cover the needs of the birth centres without ever resorting to contracting out the service.
