Sharing, community spirit, a path with solid foundations and clear objectives for the future: the balance of the Euregio Festival, which took place in the Trentino town of Ala, is certainly positive. The institutional morning, with the meetings of the EGTC Council and Assembly, left room in the afternoon for the many events open to adults and children. From workshops on the silk cycle to guided visits to the palaces and historical streets of the town centre. But there were also great events, such as the meeting with the 'King of the eight-thousanders' Reinhold Messner, and moments of historical insight, such as the unveiling of the plaque in memory of Andreas Hofer (as part of the project '1809: in the footsteps of Andreas Hofer') and the presentation of the book 'Dictatorships on the border' by Lorenzo Gardumi and Anselmo Vilardi.
Around noon, however, the citizens of Ala, the authorities, the local band and the Tyrolean band from Wilten, as well as the many Schützen present, took part in the opening ceremony of the festival in the central Piazza San Giovanni. A solemn moment, during which the Ala band played the Ode to Joy at the opening, while the Euregio banner was hoisted in front of the town hall.
President Maurizio Fugatti greeted the authorities present, the Schützen companies and all the citizens present: 'We are on the borders of the historic Tyrol, but this is not the first time we have come here, in fact I remember that in 2019 with the presidents of South Tyrol and Tyrol we met in San Leonardo di Avio and then in Borghetto to put up the welcome sign in the Euregio. In these two years we wanted to work strongly on communicating the values, principles, ideals that constitute the identity spirit of the Euregio. We have done this in schools, with young people, but also with mayors and municipalities,' said the president, recalling the establishment of the Euregio Council of Municipalities, with the great participation of Trentino mayors also in events in Tyrol and South Tyrol. "We are continuing this work and the hope is that in the future in the three territories, at every border of our municipalities, people will be able to find the symbol of the Euregio".
