What is meant by 'transcendent'? Is it something necessarily linked to faith? The answer, negative, is entrusted to the debate between philosopher Massimo Donà, mathematician Piergiorgio Odifreddi and Father Enzo Fortunato. "Transcendence is not outside of materiality, it is going beyond," says Odifreddi. "I therefore mean, for the individual, going beyond what one is, with projects and changes, but for the community, for what is so widely represented here at the Trento Festival of Economics, going beyond a vision linked to the economy, to Eurocentrism, to production at all costs, trying to look at the world from the outside, from afar.
