Prevention, starting with lifestyles, and early diagnosis as fundamental tools for health and the treatment of cancer: this was discussed yesterday at a meeting at the headquarters of Sat, organised by the Lotus association on the theme of 'Mammography screening in Trentino: let us know the past in order to face the present and build the future'. The provincial councillor for health Mario Tonina brought his greetings, emphasising "the importance of occasions, such as this, for information and awareness-raising". The councillor recalled how necessary it is to work in preventive terms 'in the face of two topical issues today, namely the declining birth rate and the ageing population with increasing care needs'. Work must be set up, the councillor said, starting with young people and the world of education in order to have positive results in the future. The councillor recalled that the provincial strategy, which also addresses these issues, is currently being approved. Finally, he expressed his appreciation for the work carried out by the voluntary world and associations such as Lotus, and for the commitment of healthcare personnel in favour of the community; a commitment that was particularly onerous during the pandemic.
