The provincial councillor for health and social policies Mario Tonina, who visited the San Camillo Hospital and the Villa Bianca nursing home yesterday afternoon, concluded with a stop in Trento.
With him were the director of the provincial health policy service Monica Zambotti, the general director of the Provincial Health Services Agency Antonio Ferro, the administrative director of Apss Sara Girardi, and the director of the Apss clinical governance service Emanuele Torri.
During the two visits, the provincial councillor emphasised the importance of the accredited private sector within the provincial healthcare system, stressing the need to act as a system in order to better face the challenges that await the health and social-welfare sector, in the immediate future.
"The reduction of waiting lists and emergency room accesses are issues that we want to address in this legislature," said Councillor Tonina during the meetings. "Alongside this, however, looking at the medium term, we need to work to guarantee the right to health, starting with prevention, because in the future, the phenomena of the birth rate and the ageing of the population, combined with the decline in public resources, will make responses such as hospitalisation and admission to nursing homes unsustainable and insufficient. All of us, therefore, politicians first and foremost,' Tonina continued, 'are called upon to design new models that are capable of responding to the needs of citizens on the ground, starting with the Community Homes and the role of general practitioners, but also working in synergy with private contracted providers, enhancing the skills of each one.
