State-owned forests

These are the forests owned by the Province, designated as inalienable assets for the benefit of the entire Trentino community, and deserving of special protection due to their high natural and socio-cultural value.

Owing to their importance, they have been included amongst the ‘invariants’ of the Provincial Urban Plan, as territorial elements that constitute distinctive features of the environment and territorial identity, which must be protected and enhanced in order to ensure balanced and sustainable development.

The core area of the state-owned forests is concentrated in the north-eastern part of Trentino (the forests of Cadino, Paneveggio, San Martino di Castrozza, Valsorda and Valzanca), but other significant areas are situated in the central-southern part of the province (Monte S. Pietro, Bondone, Scanuppia, Campobrun).
