Travel passes for secondary school pupils

The unlimited travel pass for secondary school pupils costs 20 euros and allows pupils to travel on all forms of public transport in Trentino from 1 September to 31 August.

With this pass, students can travel on all public transport in Trentino from 1 September to 31 August of the following year.

To obtain the unlimited travel pass, you must have a smart card.

The unlimited travel pass can be used on the following transport services:

- urban and suburban services operated by Trentino Trasporti SpA;

- the Trento–Malè–Marilleva Railway;

- the Valsugana Railway between Trento and Primolano;

- the Brenner Railway (*) between Borghetto and Mezzocorona/Ora. Ora station can only be used for journeys to or from Val di Fiemme and Val di Fassa. Stops for boarding or alighting at Salorno, Magrè/Cortaccia and Egna are excluded (Ora station operates solely as a transfer point for journeys to Val di Fiemme and Val di Fassa);

- the Trento–Sardagna cable car.

*except for long-distance trains (Intercity, Eurocity, Euronight, Trenitalia’s Frecce services)

The card is issued to students aged 30 or under.

Pupils attending secondary schools in the province of Trento can purchase a travel pass:

The pass is also issued to students resident in the province who attend secondary schools outside the province.

For families with more than four children attending schools from nursery to secondary level, the pass is free from the fourth child onwards, subject to the submission of the relevant self-certification form.

The application may be submitted by:

• A student of legal age
• A parent or guardian of a minor student

To obtain a travel pass, you must apply for a smart card.

Applying for a smart card during school enrolment

For pupils in their first year of upper secondary school, the application is made at the time of enrolment at the upper secondary school and must be submitted to the lower secondary school they are currently attending (by the end of February)

Applying for a smart card during the academic year

In all other cases, the application must be submitted at the ticket offices of Trentino Trasporti SpA or Trenitalia SpA.

Students over the age of 18 must also attach a declaration stating that they are not in employment to their application : self-declaration for transport of over-18 secondary school students.

After the smart card has been issued

Once the smart card has been issued, the season ticket is paid for and loaded onto the card at the same ticket offices.

It is also possible to pay for the season ticket via the Trentino Trasporti pagoPA website.

In this case, after making the payment, you must still go to a ticket office to have the season ticket loaded onto the smart card, presenting the PagoPA payment receipt to the ticket office staff.

New: from 9 July 2026, season tickets for secondary school pupils will also be renewable at the PUNTOLIS network of tobacconists (please note: renewal only, not initial top-up).

Students who are of legal age must also attach a declaration stating that they are not in employment to their application.
