Description
As part of its scientific outreach activities, the School of International Studies (SIS) offers in-depth courses dedicated to civic education and citizenship. The training courses, defined together with the teachers of reference, aim to stimulate the active participation of students, promoting a critical and conscious approach to the major processes taking place.
The offer focuses on four thematic areas in which the SIS teachers have specific teaching and research skills:
● European Union;
● Constitution, protection of fundamental rights and minorities
● Environmental sustainability;
● Globalisation.
The modules allow these topics - including the most topical issues - to be addressed from a multidisciplinary perspective. Schools with specific needs can agree on targeted seminars on topics of particular interest.
Workshops can also be conducted in English.
TRAINING MODULE ON EUROPE
Title of training module: Europe under the Multidisciplinary Lens
Proposing body: School of International Studies - University of Trento
Target audience: SSSG - secondary schools
Duration of training module: 2-hour modules
The seminars on the European Union aim to make students aware of the relevance of this supranational institution in all aspects of daily life (study, work, mobility, health, communications, privacy, consumption, environment, etc.), adopting a multidisciplinary approach that accounts for the complexity of the phenomenon of European integration, but also its richness. The topics to be covered range from the historical origins of the European Union, its institutional structure and functioning, its relations with the Member States, particularly Italy, and its legal, economic, political, social and historical impact. The common thread running through all the themes is that of a knowledge of the specificities of the process of European integration that enables an active participation of male and female students, in which the identity of European citizenship is a tool for change and civic awareness.
Lesson proposals:
● The history of European integration and Italy
