Description

It is a grant in favour of young athletes who have been resident in the province of Trento for at least three years and who have distinguished themselves for sporting and scholastic merit in the last school year completed at the time the application is submitted, in order to contribute to their education and training expenses.

The amount of the scholarship is set at €1,500 and is paid in a single instalment. The grant may be combined with other grants, scholarships or free places in colleges and boarding schools granted by the Province or other public bodies or institutions for different purposes.

The grant is provided for in Article 24 of Provincial Law No. 4 of 21 April 2016 'Provincial Law on Sport 2016'.

Restrictions

Results achieved at:
(a) memorial events, tournaments, trophies, circuits;
(b) rallies, including preparatory rallies;
(c) city championships;
(d) retreats;
(e) friendly matches;
f) events within the framework of student games, Euregio, Arge Alp.

Results achieved at meetings are only taken into account if they relate to a competition specifically designed to award an individual or team Italian champion title.

Scholarships are not granted for sporting and scholastic merit achieved during the first cycle of education (primary and secondary schools).

Only sports merit achieved in sports disciplines regulated by the respective sports federations or associated sports disciplines, recognised by CONI or CIP, are eligible.

The scholarship may be combined with other grants, scholarships or free places in colleges and boarding schools granted by the Province or other public bodies or institutions for different purposes.

Each student-athlete may benefit from a maximum of two scholarships per school cycle.

Only what is declared in the application shall be taken into account and those results, both scholastic and sporting, that are not clearly and unambiguously indicated in the application shall not be considered.

Additions with new results and/or new identifying elements of results obtained after the deadline for submitting applications are not permitted.

Student-athletes registered as professionals or belonging by profession to military sports groups are not eligible for the grant.

Who it's for

Young student-athletes who, on the date of submission of the application

  1. have completed a school year in the second cycle of education or training within public and equal education and training institutions
  2. have been resident in the province of Trento for at least three years
  3. have passed the school year without any deficits in learning, with an average mark of 7.50 or above, or seven tenths if a student-athlete with intellectual disabilities (excluding the religion mark and excluding marks relating to alternative/optional subjects such as workshops, internships, etc.) or have successfully completed the school year or training course in the year in which the application is submitted with a mark of 75/100 or above, or 70/100 if a student-athlete with intellectual disabilities. In the case of school assessments expressed with different grade parameters, the results obtained will be proportionally transformed into the corresponding decimal or centesimal values in compliance with the school regulations;
  4. they are members of an amateur sports association or club affiliated to a national sports federation or an associated sports discipline recognised by CONI or CIP or they are members of a professional sports association or club affiliated to a national sports federation recognised by CONI or CIP that also carries out amateur activities
  5. are not professional athletes and do not belong by profession to military sports groups;
  6. they have achieved at least one of the following sporting results during the reference school year (period between 1 September of the previous year and 31 August of the year in which the application is submitted), achieved as a member of one of the entities referred to in point 5 above
    (a) first, second, third place at the European or World Championships (100 points);
    b) call-up by the federation in the Italian national team with participation in at least one of the relevant competitions (90 points);
    c) first, second, third place in individual competitions held for the awarding of a category or absolute Italian champion title (80 points)
    d) playing in the top amateur formation that plays championships of national stature (50 points);
    e) convocation by the local body of the sports federation in the provincial and/or regional representative team and participation in at least one of the competitions envisaged for the awarding of a category or absolute Italian title (50 points)
    f) first place in the provincial or regional category phase with participation in the national category phase (40 points).

The application may be submitted
a) by one of the parents or person exercising parental authority if the student-athlete is a minor;
b) by the student-athlete himself/herself, if over 18.

The application must be submitted between 10 July and 10 September each year

Maximum no. of waiting days

The 90-day period for concluding the procedure starts on 11 September, the day after the deadline for submitting applications. If additional documentation is requested, the deadline for the procedure is suspended until it is received.

Once the grant has been awarded, the beneficiary must produce, for disbursement purposes, the declaration referring to tax deductions, made on the appropriate form pursuant to Article 23 of Presidential Decree no. 600 of 29 September 1973.
