Provisional driving licence for the renewal of a driving licence at CML

A driver who is required to renew their driving licence at the Local Medical Commission (CML) and who is unable to book a medical examination before the licence expires may, once they have booked the examination, apply for a provisional driving licence valid until the renewal procedures are completed.

The permit is valid for driving only within Italy; it is not recognised abroad.

The permit may be issued on a one-off basis andremains valid until the final outcome of the renewal procedures.

The online procedure is only permitted for applications for provisional driving licences linked to medical examinations booked by the Local Medical Commission of Trento. It is not permitted for applying for further extensions beyond the issue of the first provisional driving licence.

The permit may be applied for by drivers who are required to renew their driving licence at the Local Medical Commission (CML) and have been unable to book a medical examination before the licence expires.

Applications for a licence can be submitted at the driving licence office by appointment (via the ‘digital channels’ section), or can be sent to the email addresspatenti@provincia.tn.it, attaching the required documentation.

The PAGOPA code is: 

• N019 (Stamp duty).

The documents to be sent to the email addresspatenti@provincia.tn.itare:

• a copy of your driving licence;
• a copy of the letter from the Local Medical Commission in Trento, showing the date of the renewal examination;
• a receipt for the payment of €16.00.
