- visual inspections (so-called sight checks) involving the observation of items; the inspector may also operate or use them, assess noises or use any other appropriate means of inspection without the use of equipment.
- documentary checks of the vehicle documents and any supplementary documentation.
The outcome of the inspection may be regular, repeat or suspended. Following the "repeat" or "suspended" outcome, the overhaul may be regularised at the same workshop that issued the outcome or at the office of the Civil Vehicle Registration Authority, which will request a new payment via PAGOPA of the amount of 45 euros .
Declaration of works
If, in the case of a "repeat" or "suspended from circulation" roadworthiness review, the wording "declaration of work must be made" is indicated on the vehicle registration document, this must be issued by a vehicle repair workshop registered in the vehicle repairers' register and must
- be issued by the legal representative of the repair shop in the form of a declaration in lieu of affidavit (pursuant to Presidential Decree 445/2000);
- report the list of repairs carried out in full;
- bear the wording 'work carried out in a workmanlike manner'.
