How to open a mountaineering and ski mountaineering school for the technical functional coordination of teaching activities

Mountaineering and ski-mountaineering schools may be set up on the initiative of a group of at least three mountain guides who intend to associate for the technical-functional co-ordination of the activity of teaching mountaineering and ski-mountaineering techniques with the exclusion of skiing techniques on downhill and cross-country tracks as well as teaching climbing, canyoning and canyoning techniques.

Also mountaineering guides, in both grades, may take part in the schools for the performance of the activities allowed to them.

Mountaineering and ski touring schools must be authorised by the Provincial Council.

Restrictions

The submission of the SCIA is subject to the following conditions:

  • the school is managed by a mountain guide-master mountaineer enrolled in the provincial professional register of mountain guides-master mountaineers;
  • the teaching activity is carried out exclusively by mountain guides-mountaineering instructors and aspiring guides who are registered in the respective provincial professional register. The number of aspiring guides must not exceed the number of mountaineering guides;
  • the accompanying activity is carried out by aspiring mountain guides and mountaineering guides enrolled in the respective register as well as mountain and territory guides and medium mountain guides enrolled in the respective special list. The number of territory guides and medium mountain guides must not exceed the number of mountaineering guides and aspiring guides.
