New Business Grants 2022

This is a non-repayable grant fornew entrepreneurs, such as young people, women and the unemployed(for more than 6 months), aimed at:

• support the creation of new businesses and finance their start-up costs;
• encourage the purchase of goods and services within the province, thereby generating economic benefits for the province.

Grant scheme

The grant is calculated as a percentage ofeligible expenditure:

• the minimum expenditure threshold is20,000 euros;
• the maximum expenditure limit is€100,000.

The grant may be paid in one or two instalments (first instalment and final balance), based on the expenditure actually incurred and reported.

Training programme

Prior to the final report, the applicant company must undertake a training programme lasting at least 16 hours (with attendance of at least 75 per cent of the scheduled hours), covering topics such as business strategy and innovation, financial management, marketing and digital marketing, human resources management and the circular economy.

Obligations

Receipt of the grant entails a series of obligations, for a period of at least 5 years from the date the grant is paid out. Please refer to point 11 of the Notice for further information (LINK TO THE NOTICE).

New entrepreneurs who:

• are owners of the newly established business and who actively and exclusively carry out management and organisational activities in the role of owner, legal representative or partner, as recorded in the Register of Companies;

• fall into at least one of the following categories:
  • be a woman;
  • be a young person aged between 18 and 35 on the date the business was incorporated;
  • be unemployed and registered with a Job Centre in Italy for at least 6 months as at the date of submission of the grant application.

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible for the grant, as of the date the application is submitted, the business must:

• be owned by one or more natural persons and established by a new entrepreneur
• have been incorporated no more than 12 months prior to the date of application, as shown by the Chamber of Commerce extract (the date stated in the incorporation details – for sole traders, the date of the single declaration applies) 
• have an operational unit in Trentino
• have a primary ATECO code falling within the codes listedin ANNEX Aof the general provisions of Provincial Law 6/99 or the primary ATECO code 59.14.00 (cinema exhibition activities):

• be registered in the Register of Companies as of the date of submission of the application
• be a small enterprise, as defined in Annex I to the General Block Exemption Regulation (EU) No 651/2014
• be an independent undertaking within the meaning of European legislation
• not be subject to any ongoing insolvency proceedings
• not be in difficulty within the meaning of the General Block Exemption Regulation (EU) No 651/2014

Project evaluation criteria

The assessment of the submitted project will be carried out by the assessing body (Trentino Sviluppo S.p.A.). At the end of the assessment process, a specific ranking list will be drawn up.Please refer to point 9.3 of the Notice (LINK TO THE NOTICE) for the assessment criteria.

Applications may be submitted by:

• The owner/legal representative of the company
• Authorised representative

Terms and conditions for submitting an application

You may submit, including via an authorised representative, only one grant applicationfrom 3.00 pm on 28 April 2022 until 3.00 pm on 28 July 2022 via the Agorà platform. 

To submit your application, you must have a SPID digital identity.

To be eligible for the grant,you will need to submit a project proposal, a business plan and details of the expenses incurred or to be incurred. When submitting your grant application, you will therefore need to provide:

• a project summary of the initiative and a business plan covering the start-up phase of the business (in particular, you must provide a projected profit and loss account and balance sheet for two years);
• a breakdown of the expenses incurred and those you intend to incur.

It is no longer possible to submit an application.

The investigating body, Trentino Sviluppo SpA, is responsible for the preliminary investigation procedures.

Deadline for completion of the initiative

New! Pursuant to Provincial Government Resolution No. 1717 of 22 September 2023 , the deadline for completion of the initiative and incurring expenditure (as referred to in point 7.1 of the Notice) has been extended by 12 months.

Prior to the extension: Expenditure must be incurred from the date of incorporation of the new enterprise and within 12 months of the date of notification of the grant award (the date of the expenditure documents is decisive for these timeframes).

Deadline for submitting the final report

Eligible expenditure must be paid within 6 months of the deadline for completion of the initiative.

Within the same timeframe, the beneficiary must submit the application for payment of the grant (instalments/final balance) using the documentation provided in the ‘Forms’ section.
