Description
The tests of the certified geotechnical laboratory are standardised tests on soil samples that can be subdivided into tests for recognition and classification, mechanical strength and deformability tests, permeability tests, etc.
The following tests are available
DETERMINATION OF WATER CONTENT
(UNI EN ISO 17892-1:2015; minimum technical test time 24 hours):
determination of the water content (moisture) of a soil specimen by oven drying (average over several values), for each determination
DETERMINATION OF DENSITY
(UNI EN ISO 17892-2:2015):
determination of the density of fine-grained soils by the method of linear measurements, for each determination
DETERMINATION OF DENSITY USING A HYDROSTATIC BALANCE
(UNI EN ISO 17892-2:2015; minimum technical test time: 24 hours).
determination of the density of fine-grained soils by the water immersion method, including any paraffinisation of the test specimen, for each determination
DETERMINATION OF THE DENSITY OF SOLID GRANULES
(UNI EN ISO 17892-3:2016; minimum technical test time: 24 hours):
determination of the density of solid granules (average over two values) using the pycnometer method, for each determination
PARTICLE SIZE ANALYSIS FOR DRY SIEVING

particle size analysis by dry sieving, on quantities of less than 3 kg, where practicable
PARTICLE SIZE ANALYSIS BY WET SCREENING

particle size analysis by wet sieving of less than 3 kg
FULL PARTICLE SIZE ANALYSIS BY WET SCREENING AND BY SEDIMENTATION

complete particle size analysis by wet sieving on a quantity of less than 3 kg and by sedimentation of the fine part with an aerometer, excluding the determination of the density mass of the grains (the test execution requires the density mass value of the grain)
DETERMINATION OF LIQUIDITY AND PLASTICITY LIMITS

determination of liquidity and plasticity limits jointly

simple unconfined compression test with free lateral expansion type ELL
EDOMETRIC CONSOLIDATION TEST AT LOAD INCREMENTS
(UNI EN ISO 17892-5:2017; minimum technical test time: 15 days):
oedometric load increment consolidation test (IL) on specimens with a diameter less than or equal to 75 mm with each load step maintained for 24 hours, at a maximum pressure of 3200 kPa, for a maximum number of 8 increments in the loading phase and 4 in the unloading phase, for each test (the execution of the test requires the value of the volumetric mass of the grain)
DETERMINATION OF THE SECONDARY CONSOLIDATION COEFFICIENT
(UNI EN ISO 17892-5:2017; minimum technical time for carrying out the test depends on the characteristics of the sample):
determination of the secondary consolidation coefficient during the execution of the edometric test, with the load remaining over 24 hours. It is specified that for particular test conditions such as thickening of the load steps within the pre-consolidation pressure, reaching load levels exceeding 3200 kPa, the price must be estimated on a case-by-case basis
DIRECT SHEAR TEST ON UNDISTURBED SAMPLE TD

direct shear test conducted on a die-cut specimen directly from an undisturbed cohesive specimen, performed with a Casagrande box with a square or circular cross-section of maximum dimension 60 mm, in a consolidated drained condition
