  • Active

Grants to municipalities in the Autonomous Province of Trento for the removal of communication barriers and the creation of sensory relaxation areas, in accordance with Article 21-bis of Provincial Law No. 1 of 1991.

Description

In order to facilitate communication for people with disabilities, by means of Council Resolution No. 619 dated 30 April 2026, criteria were established for the allocation of grants to local authorities in the Autonomous Province of Trento, intended for the removal of communication barriers and the creation of sensory relaxation areas, in support of projects aimed at:

  • integrating urban signage and safety instructions with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) tools, with the aim of making public spaces more accessible and inclusive for people with communication difficulties;
  • set up sensory relaxation areas within or near play areas in public parks to promote the sensory wellbeing of children with autism or other sensory and cognitive disabilities.

The funding is a non-repayable grant,amounting to 80 per cent of eligible expenditure, subject to the following conditions:

  • up to a maximum of €5,000.00 for projects integrating urban signage and/or safety instructions with Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) tools;
  • up to a maximum of €20,000.00 for the creation of sensory de-stimulation zones within or near play areas in public parks, through spaces designed to reduce stimuli and provide acoustic and/or visual isolation.

Restrictions

The applicant local authority shall forfeit the grant and shall be required to repay any sums received as an advance if, within one year of the date on which it was notified that the grant had been awarded, it has not submitted the final report.

Each application may relate exclusively to one of the two eligible types of project.

It is therefore not possible to apply for both types of project within the same application.
