Description
In order to implement the provincial environmental guidelines and strategies, the 'Fund for the promotion of sustainable development and the fight against climate change', governed by Article 24 of Provincial Law No. 19 of 17 September 2013, has been identified within the provincial budget.
The Fund is intended for the financing of initiatives, projects and interventions pertaining to the protection of the environment or aimed at tackling climate change, carried out by the Province or by other public or private bodies and entities, to be implemented, in particular, in the fields of the development of energy production systems from renewable sources, scientific research and technological innovation, transport and mobility, sustainable building, water resource management, agriculture and rural development and tourism.
The Provincial Council establishes the funding criteria for the implementation of the aforementioned initiatives, projects and interventions, identifying the procedures for the submission of grant applications and for the determination of eligible expenditure, the amount of the contribution percentages and the related disbursement methods, as well as the criteria and methods for reporting on the interventions and for the reimbursement of contributions in the event of revocation.
The Provincial Council may also establish the granting of funding through the publication of specific calls for proposals on specific topics or through the stipulation of specific Programme Agreements with public bodies.
Furthermore, again by resolution of the Provincial Council, the method of granting funding may be defined through the stipulation of specific agreements with public bodies or non-profit associations with the aim of protecting the environment and mountain territory in order to carry out activities or projects on sustainable development of provincial importance on an ongoing basis.
