Description
Patronage represents a form of moral recognition through which the President of the Autonomous Province of Trento expresses the institution’s symbolic endorsement of an initiative of provincial significance and importance deemed worthy of recognition for its cultural, artistic, scientific, educational, sporting, economic, social and celebratory aims.
Patronage demonstrates an interest in initiatives, including those taking place outside the province, which are consistent with the principles of the Trentino community’s development in cultural, scientific, educational, sporting, social and celebratory terms.
The granting of patronage does not entail the provision of funding or other forms of support.
Types of initiatives for which patronage is granted:
- artistic, cultural, scientific, educational, sporting, economic, social and celebratory events of a provincial, national and international nature;
- conferences, congresses, and study, research and documentation initiatives relating to cultural, scientific, educational, economic and social activities at provincial, national and international level
Criteria for the granting of patronage
The patronage of the Autonomous Province of Trento is granted to initiatives that:
- make a significant scientific, cultural and informative contribution, within the context of and for the benefit of, respectively, the growth and promotion of Trentino society and its image;
- are of provincial significance due to their particular resonance and visibility arising from historical, traditional or prestigious aspects, or from the interest they generate amongst several local communities;
- are carried out in Trentino or, if held outside the province, involve the promotion of Trentino’s image at national and/or international level in sectors of provincial interest.
Initiatives carried out with the support of the Province
For initiatives and events of provincial significance organised with the support of the Province in accordance with relevant provincial legislation, patronage and the use of the coat of arms are deemed to be automatically granted and authorised.
Restrictions
The Autonomous Province of Trento does not grant its patronage to initiatives and events which:
- constitute advertising or promotion aimed at the sale, even if not direct, of works, products or services of any kind;
- are promoted by political parties or movements, or by organisations, however named, representing social groups or forces, as well as by professional bodies and associations, for the sole purpose of propaganda or proselytising, or to finance their own organisational structure;
- present the body as merely an object of desire and possession, or which portray it in a commodified manner that fails to respect personal integrity.
