Granting of patronage and use of the PAT official coat of arms

The official coat of arms of the Autonomous Province of Trento may only be used subject to authorisation by the President of the Province, in the cases and according to the methods indicated in Attachment A, an integral part of Resolution no. 1784, dated 05.08.2010 - Criteria and methods for granting patronage of the Autonomous Province of Trento and for authorisation to use the coat of arms.

Description

Patronage is the form of moral recognition through which the President of the Autonomous Province of Trento expresses the Authority's symbolic support for an initiative of provincial character and importance that is deemed worthy of appreciation for its cultural, artistic, scientific, educational, sporting, economic, social and celebratory aims.

Patronage expresses interest in initiatives, which also take place outside the provincial territory and which are consistent with the principles of growth of the Trentino community from a cultural, scientific, educational, sporting, social and celebratory point of view.

The granting of patronage does not imply the awarding of contributions or other forms of support.

Types of initiatives for which patronage is granted

- artistic, cultural, scientific, educational, sporting, economic, social and celebratory events of a provincial, national and international nature

- conferences, congresses, study, research and documentation initiatives relating to cultural, scientific, educational, economic and social activities of a provincial, national and international nature

Reference criteria for granting patronage

Patronage by the Autonomous Province of Trento is granted to initiatives that

- make a significant scientific, cultural and informative contribution in the context of and to the benefit of the growth and enhancement of Trento society and its image respectively

- have provincial importance in relation to their particular resonance and visibility due to historical aspects, tradition and prestige or to the interest they arouse in several local communities

- are implemented in Trentino or, if carried out outside the province, involve the promotion of Trentino's image nationally and/or internationally in areas of provincial interest.

Initiatives implemented with the contribution of the Province

For initiatives and events of provincial importance carried out with the contribution of the Province on the basis of provincial sector laws, sponsorship and the use of the coat of arms are understood to be automatically granted and authorised.

Restrictions

The patronage of the Autonomous Province of Trento is not granted to initiatives and events that

- constitute advertising or promotion aimed at the sale, including non-direct sales, of works, products or services of any kind

- are promoted by political parties or movements, by organisations, however named, representing categories or social forces, or by professional orders and colleges, for the sole purpose of propaganda or proselytising, or for the funding of their own organisational structure

- present the body as a mere object of desire and possession, or that give a commodified image of it that is disrespectful of personal integrity.

Who it's for

Persons whomay apply for patronage

- individual and associated local authorities, bodies and associations in which local authorities participate;

- universities and cultural, scientific, educational, sporting and social institutions;

- public and private bodies, associations and other non-profit organisations, natural persons carrying out cultural, scientific, educational, sporting, economic and social activities.

What to do

The request for patronage, signed by the legal representative of the applicant and drawn up on a specially prepared form, shall illustrate the initiative in terms of content, aims, from which the justification for "provincial importance" may be deduced with reference to the criteria for granting patronage set out above, and the time, place and manner in which it is to be carried out.

The application shall be addressed to the President of the Autonomous Province of Trento and shall be submitted, also in electronic format, at least 15 days before the initiative for which patronage is requested (Piazza Dante, no. 15 - 38122 Trento, tel. 0461 494612 - 494643 - 494691, fax 0461 494613, e-mail: presidente@pec.provincia.tn.it).

The preliminary investigation for the granting of patronage is carried out by the Language Minorities and External Relations Service.

Timeframes and deadlines

The decision to grant the Province's patronage lies with the President, having consulted the competent councillor in relation to the nature of the initiative.

Use of the Coat of Arms of the Autonomous Province of Trento

The granting of patronage by the President of the Province entails authorisation to use the coat of arms of the Autonomous Province of Trento and the obligation to make the same suitably visible with the specific wording "WITH THE PATRONAGE OF THE AUTONOMOUS PROVINCE OF TRENTO" on all forms of communication relating to the individual initiative being sponsored.

The coat of arms in jpeg format and printing instructions will be provided by the External Relations Service.
