Contribution for relatives of victims of fatal accidents at work

  • Active

It is a financial contribution intended for the relatives of persons who have died as a result of an accident due to a violent cause while carrying out work or voluntary activities.

Description

The Autonomous Province of Trento has set up a Solidarity Fund for the disbursement of one-off contributions to the families of victims of fatal accidents occurring in the course of work or voluntary activities.

Access to the Fund is permitted in the case of fatal accidents occurring to:

1) workers in the course of their work, even if the worker is not covered by compulsory insurance against accidents at work

2) in the performance of their duties to:

  • members of the police force, the armed forces, the provincial forestry corps, custodians belonging to the forestry custody service, the municipal police force and the permanent fire brigade
  • volunteers of the mountain and speleological rescue service, the fire brigade, the provincial civil protection operational structures, and those who carry out the service of transporting the sick in agreement with the provincial health services agency.

The contribution is disbursed irrespective of the ascertainment of liability in the causation of the fatal event and is additional to other emoluments or indemnities that have their source in other laws, insurance or social security relationships.

The amount of the contribution is determined in proportion to the family economic condition (ICEF) and is graduated according to the degree of kinship of the victim with the beneficiary family members, the existence of a spousal or cohabiting relationship and the number of children.

The maximum amount of the contribution is €25,000 for an ICEF indicator equal to zero and is reduced proportionally as the ICEF indicator increases until it is zero. If the amount is greater than zero and less than EUR 500, the minimum amount of EUR 500 will be recognised.
