Compensation in the beekeeping sector

The Provincial Council decided with this measure to help Trentino beekeepers due to lower honey production and higher maintenance costs caused by the particularly unfavourable weather in the spring and summer months of 2024.

The measure is aimed at beekeepers who have suffered production losses and who operate as businesses, with at least 40 hives, and who are registered in the National Beekeeping Database. The Provincial Council has decided to offer economic aid to compensate for loss of income caused by adverse weather conditions, with a maximum amount of EUR 39.5 per hive.

In order to qualify for the planned aid, beekeepers must meet certain important conditions.

Here is a summary:

1. Have the legal headquarters of the beekeeping company in the province of Trento.
2. Be the holder of a Farm File with the Paying Agency of the Province of Trento (APPAG).
3. Have updated and validated their electronic Farm File at least once in 2024, before submitting the application.
4. Possess a certified electronic mailbox (PEC) to receive official communications.
5. Be in possession of a VAT number.
6. Be registered in the Beekeeping Database (BDA) as an "ordinary" activity and not as a family farm.
7. Be in compliance with the obligations of identification and registration of apiaries and hives, and have reported at least one hive in the census between 1 November and 31 December 2024.
8. To have reported at least 40 hives on 31 December 2023.

All these requirements must be met at the time of application. If even one of these is missing, the application may be considered inadmissible.

The application must be submitted online by accessing the provincial agricultural information system SRTrento at https://srt.infotn.itwhich can also be reached via the portal https://a4g.provincia.tn.it/from 12 May 2025 and until 16 June 2025 according to the procedures set out in the Manual of Procedures for Controls and Sanctions of the APPAG Paying Agency.

Access to the restricted area of SR Trento is allowed only to registered users; therefore, each user must first be accredited according to the methods indicated in the manual on the home page of the SRTrento website. On the SR Trento portal, a specific and independent application procedure is available for each Action under this call for proposals.

When you submit your application on the SRTrento portal, the automatic procedure acquires your personal details directly from the APPAG Company File database, so you do not have to enter everything manually.

In the application you must also include some declarations in lieu of affidavit, issued in accordance with Articles 46 and 47 of Presidential Decree 445/2000. These declarations certify that

• You have neither applied for nor obtained other benefits for the losses suffered.
• You must indicate the category of income you hold, in order to correctly apply the withholding tax.

As regards the documentation to be attached, here is what you need:

1. Any documentation that you have insured honey production in 2024 against losses caused by adverse weather conditions.
2. The declaration in lieu of affidavit, as explained before, which is necessary for the granting of de minimis aid, according to the provisions of Determination No 3534 of 9 April 2025.

The application may be submitted from 12 May 2025 and until 16 June 2025
