Compensation for damage caused by wild predators

  • Active

Requested by a farmer or simple hobbyist who has suffered damage to agricultural, beekeeping, livestock or other heritage caused by a wild predator (bear, wolf and lynx).

Who it's for

Owners or holders of property damaged by wild predators, both agricultural entrepreneurs and hobbyists.

What to do

In the event of suspected damage by large carnivores (wolves, bears, lynxes), the local forestry staff must be contacted as soon as possible, but no later than 24 hours, to report the event. If deemed necessary, an assessment of the damage will be organised within the following 24 hours (12 hours for bee herds) by specially trained forestry staff. In this case, the injured party is required to maintain the predatory framework until the damage assessment is completed. If the injured party intends to apply for reimbursement, he/she shall fill out the appropriate form in full. The form must be sent within 60 days to the PEC address in the header of the form, together with a copy of an identity document, or delivered to the relevant forestry station. Alternatively, the claim form may be delivered, after completion on site at the inspection, directly to the forestry staff that ascertains the damage.
