By Law No. 190 of 13 December 2023, in force since 17/12/2023 the regulation of the profession of tourist guide was approved. The measure implements the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (M1C3-R 4.1 -10).
The law envisages that the exam to qualify as a tourist guide will be called, at least once a year, by the Ministry of Tourism and will consist of a written test, an oral test and a technical-practical test covering the subjects of art history, geography, history, archaeology, tourism law and accessibility and inclusiveness of the tourist offer, in addition to the assessment of language skills.
National Tourist Guide Licensing Examination - You do not have permission to view this object.A national list of tourist guides is established at the Ministry of Tourism, by decree of the Minister of Tourism to be adopted within thirty days from the date of entry into force of the law, to which are registered, upon application, those who
a) have passed the specific qualification examination announced by the Ministry of Tourism
b) have obtained recognition of their professional qualification;
c) are already qualified as tourist guides on the date of entry into force of the national law.
The profession of tourist guide is currently regulated in the Autonomous Province of Trento by Provincial Law No. 12 of 14 February 1992. In view of the state reform, a reform and adjustment of the provincial law will be necessary.

However, the provincial list of authorised persons, which can be found below, is maintained for mere reconnaissance purposes.

Pursuant to Article 9 of Law no. 190/2023, tourist guides provided with a personal identification card in accordance with Article 5, paragraph 4, are entitled to free admission to all sites where they exercise their profession or where they access for study and training purposes, whether they are owned by the State, other public bodies, local authorities or religious institutions.
