Description
In order to work as a beautician, it is necessary to obtain a professional licence after passing a specific examination.
Scheduling of examination sessions for the year 2026
7 to 25 September 2026: opening of the call for applications by candidates and applicants
5-6-7 October 2026: practical test, according to the number of candidates enrolled, at the Istituzione formative paritaria "Opera Armida Barelli" in Rovereto (the detailed schedule will be defined according to the number of enrolled candidates)
12-13 October 2026: interview in the classrooms of the Education and Culture Department of the Autonomous Province of Trento
Conduct of the examination
The professional qualification examination is conducted by the commission and consists of a theory test and a practical test after passing the first one.
Theoretical test The theoretical test may be conducted, at the discretion of the Board, either by means of an individual interview or through the administration of written tests in the form of open-ended and/or closed-ended questions on the following subjects: business management, chemistry and cosmetology, electrology, dietetics, dermatology, anatomy and physiology, hygiene and safety, electromechanical equipment for aesthetic use. Minimum score for passing and admission to the practical test 6/10.
Practical test The practical test is of a practical-performance nature, lasting 3 hours in which the candidate will perform a facial treatment and a body treatment on a model of the candidate's choice. The minimum pass mark is 6/10.
The candidate obtains the qualification if he/she passes both tests. Candidates who obtain a pass mark in the first test but fail to obtain a pass mark due to absence or a fail mark in the second test may apply to sit only the negatively marked test a second time in one of the following sessions by sending a request on plain paper to the e-mail address of the Professional Training, Tertiary Training and System Functions Service(serv.formazione@pec.provincia.tn.it), enclosing their identity document. This application must be made at the same time as the subsequent opening dates for the submission of applications to sit the qualifying examination and within one year from the date of the failed examination and only once.
Restrictions
To take part in the examination, it is necessary to fill in the online application on the dates indicated for the opening of the deadlines, and to pay the registration fee of 75.00 euro (cannot be refunded) with " PagoPA " indicating, the reason for payment, "Examination for the independent profession of beautician".
Who it's for
Applications may be submitted by candidates who are of age and by parents in the case of minor children.
Access to the professional qualification examination is granted to those who have completed one of the following routes
professional beautician qualification as a result of a three-year vocational education and training course, followed by a 400-hour vocational qualification course;
professional qualification as a beautician following the three-year vocational education and training course, followed by a professional diploma in the beauty sector
professional qualification as beautician following a two-year vocational education and training course, followed by a 900-hour vocational qualification course
three-year period of qualified employment as an employee, active partner or family helper in a beautician's business, followed by a 480-hour vocational qualification course. The period of work activity must have taken place in the five years preceding enrolment in the professional qualification course
completion of an apprenticeship period in a beautician's business, in accordance with current legislation, of the duration laid down in the trade agreements, followed by a one-year work period as a qualified employee, active partner or family helper and a 480-hour vocational qualification course
professional qualification as a beautician following a two-year or three-year vocational education and training course followed by a one-year work period as a qualified employee, active partner or family helper in a beautician's business
