Description
Food Districts are territorial production systems functional to promote territorial development, cohesion and social inclusion, foster the integration of activities characterised by territorial proximity, ensure food safety, reduce the environmental impact of production, reduce food waste and safeguard the territory and rural landscape through agricultural and agri-food activities.
Food districts include
- rural districts,
- quality agri-food districts,
- local production systems, including those of an interregional nature, characterised by the productive interrelation and interdependence of agricultural and agri-food enterprises, as well as by one or more certified and protected productions in accordance with current European, national and regional regulations
- local production systems characterised by the interrelation and integration between agricultural activities, in particular the direct sale of agricultural products and the proximity, marketing and catering activities carried out in the same territory, solidarity economy networks and solidarity purchasing groups
- organic districts.
The food district is established by means of an agreement in which subjects operating in an integrated manner within the local production system, indicated in paragraph 3, Article 4 of Provincial Council Resolution No. 1436/2021 below, may participate.
