The 9 finalists of the first phase of the call for proposals
The Autonomous Province of Trento, with the "Premio Trentino per la Ricerca - Giovani ricercatrici e ricercatori" (Trentino Prize for Research - Young researchers), intends to award prizes in recognition of particularly deserving young researchers who have been carrying out research activities for at least one year in organisations belonging to the provincial research and innovation system or in national research bodies in the province.
The prizes will be awarded following the evaluation of the research activity, duly described and documented by the candidate when submitting the application, the subject of which must be related to one or more of the fields envisaged by the three scientific-disciplinary panels of the European Research Council(ERC ), i.e:
- Physical Sciences and Engineering;
- Life sciences;
- Humanities and Social Sciences
PURPOSE
The "Trentino Prize for Research" call for proposals has the following aims
- to recognise and valorise the excellence of the research activity carried out by deserving young researchers, belonging to provincial research bodies or national research bodies present in the province and to promote the growth of human capital in scientific research
- highlight the relevance of the impact of research carried out in Trentino and its spin-offs as a driver of social and economic development and, in particular, on the provincial territory;
- encourage young researchers to undertake initiatives in the field of science dissemination with the aim of reducing the distance between citizens and the world of research.
STEPS
The "Trentino Prize for Research" is divided into 2 phases
FIRST PHASE - research excellence and impact
In this phase three prizes for each ERC panel are awarded to nine researchers selected following the evaluation of all the applications received and considered eligible.
SECOND PHASE - dissemination of science
The winners of the first phase compete for the additional prize for the dissemination of science.
This call for proposals is activated pursuant to Article 17, paragraph 2 bis, of Provincial Law no. 14 of 2 August 2005 (Provincial Law on Research) and in compliance with the general lines of action outlined in the Multiannual Research Programme for the 16th Legislature, approved by Resolution of the Provincial Council no. 2193 of 22 December 2020.
