Agronomic use of wine-making by-products

The Province establishes the times and methods for the distribution of by-products for agronomic use in relation to the maintenance of the fertility and structure of the agricultural areas used, providing for exclusions or limitations of areas to be used for intervention.

Description

By Resolution of the Provincial Council no. 1899 of 13 October 2023, the provisions on the withdrawal under control of by-products of wine-making for agronomic purposes pursuant to Article 6 of Ministerial Decree no. 185138 of 30 March 2023 were approved.

Restrictions

The distribution of by-products on agricultural land must take place within the limit of 3,000 kg per hectare of agricultural land recorded in the farm file of the person carrying out the re-use.

At the time of withdrawal under supervision for agronomic use, the by-products of wine-making must have the following minimum characteristics

  • grape marc: 2.8 litres of anhydrous alcohol (actual and potential) per 100 kg;
  • wine lees: 4 litres of anhydrous alcohol per 100 kg, 45% moisture content.

Who it's for

Wine producers and those who have carried out any processing of grapes and who decide to put the by-products to this alternative use are obliged to make the notification of agronomic use of by-products. Pursuant to Art. 3 of Ministerial Decree No. 185138 of 30 March 2023, persons who carry out any processing of grapes up to a maximum of 6000 kg or who produce a quantity of wine or must of up to 50 hl in their facilities are exempt.

What to do

Notification of agronomic use of by-products is made in the following ways:

  • For marc and lees exclusively in telematic mode using the appropriate functionality in the SIAN. The communication must be sent by the fourth day prior to the operations.
  • For stalks by sending by pec to the address serv.politichesvilupporurale@pec.provincia.tn.it a prior communication in which the producer indicates that he intends to avail himself of this form of use and, subsequently, a final communication indicating the quantities of stalks used for agronomic purposes, the land parcels on which the dispersion was carried out and the relative areas. The final communication must be submitted by 30 January of the year following the year of production of the grapes from which the stems were obtained.
