Agricultural machinery - Registration, transfer of ownership, deregistration

In order to be able to drive an agricultural machine, tractor or trailer with a total mass exceeding 1.5 tonnes, it is necessary to have a registration certificate.

The certificate is issued in the name of the person who declares that he is the owner of an agricultural or forestry company or of a company that carries out agro-mechanical work or rents out agricultural machinery, as well as in the name of public bodies and consortia and agricultural machinery dealers and, limited to agricultural tractors and trailers with a total mass not exceeding 6 tonnes, in the name of the person who declares himself the owner (ref. art. 110 of the Italian Civil Code).

Ownership of the company can be proved by a declaration in lieu of certification certifying

• registration in the companies register, specifying the relevant section;

• the activity carried out.

For agricultural producers, who are exempt from the obligation to be registered in the business register pursuant to Article 2 of Law No 77/1997, it is sufficient to submit a declaration in lieu of certification attesting to ownership of the business/agricultural company and possession of a VAT number.

• to any owner of agricultural machinery with a total mass of more than 6 tonnes, who is the owner of an agricultural or forestry undertaking or of an undertaking carrying out agro-mechanical work;
• to anyone owning agricultural machinery with a total mass equal to or less than 6 tonnes.

• make an appointment at the offices of the Civil Vehicle Registration Authority via the 'Digital Channels' section;
• complete the documents listed in the "Documents to be submitted" section.

• in the case of agricultural machinery with overall mass less than 6 tonnes, complete form "Substitute declaration for agricultural machinery (overall mass <6t)".
• in the case of agricultural machinery with a gross vehicle weight of more than 6 tonnes, complete form "Substitute declaration for agricultural machinery" (always indicate agricultural VAT number);
• copy of a valid identification document;
• certificate of conformity (COC);
• any technical attachments, declarations for registration, etc.

In case of re-registration due to loss/destruction/damage of number plate (PagoPa rate for tractors code T034 - PagoPa rate for trailers code T026):

• form TT2119 completed and signed;
• in the case of agricultural machinery with overall mass less than 6 tonnes, complete form "Substitute declaration for agricultural machinery (overall mass <6t)".
• in the case of agricultural machinery with a gross vehicle weight of more than 6 tonnes, complete form "Substitute declaration for agricultural machinery" (always indicate agricultural VAT number);
• copy of a valid identification document;
• registration certificate;
• receipt of return of report to the police in case of loss/stolen/destruction or number plates in case of deterioration.

In case of lost/stolen/destroyed registration certificate (PagoPa rate code T007):

• form TT2119 completed and signed;
• in the case of agricultural machinery with overall mass less than 6 tonnes complete form "Substitute declaration for agricultural machinery (overall mass <6t)";
• in the case of agricultural machinery with a gross vehicle weight of more than 6 tonnes, complete form "Substitute declaration for agricultural machinery" (always indicate the agricultural VAT number);
• copy of a valid identification document;
• receipt of return of report to police authorities.

In case of transfer of ownership (PagoPa rate code T003):

• form TT2119 completed and signed;
• in the case of agricultural machinery with overall mass less than 6 tonnes complete form "Substitute declaration for agricultural machinery (overall mass <6t)";
• in the case of agricultural machinery with a gross vehicle weight of more than 6 tonnes, complete form "Substitute declaration for agricultural machinery" (always indicate the agricultural VAT number);
• registration certificate;
• copy of a valid identification document.

In case of scrapping for demolition (PagoPa rate code T003):

• form TT2119 completed and signed;
• form 4622 "Application for scrapping for demolition of agricultural machine, operating machine, trailer with overall mass of less than 3.5 tonnes";
• certificate issued by the wrecker showing the chassis number;
• registration certificate or receipt of return of report to the police in case of loss;
• number plate of the vehicle;
• copy of a valid identity document.

In case of deregistration for export (PagoPa rate code T003):

• form TT2119 completed and signed;
• form 4622 "Application for cancellation of agricultural machine, operating machine, trailer with overall mass of less than 3.5 tonnes";
• registration certificate or receipt of return of report to the police in case of loss;
• number plate of the vehicle
• copy of a valid identification document.
